Camp has played a significant role in my life both as a camper and as a staff member. It is where I made my faith my own, grew in my understanding of God’s love for me, and learned about ministry to others. At camp, I made a commitment to serve the Lord full-time in ministry and made the decision to pursue a degree in Camp Ministry at Oak Hills Christian College.

Mandi and I met at OHCC, got married in June 2002, and then moved to Wisconsin for a year of training at Camp Forest Springs. During this year, we felt the Lord leading us back to Oak Hills to help restart the camp ministry that had been dormant for 27 years.  

Mandi gave her life to Jesus through an Awana program in her hometown. Even though camp was not a part of Mandi’s childhood, she understands the importance of coming to the Lord at a young age and having the foundation for life that Jesus provides.

We have six children. The youngest three we adopted through foster care. Mandi is a full-time home maker and homeschool educator. 

As the Director of Camp Oak Hills, I cast the vision for the ministry and seek to ensure that the purposes established by the Board of Directors are understood and realized. I assume overall responsibility for the spiritual tone of the ministry, as well as the practical aspects of site and program planning, budget development, and missionary staffing. I coordinate, plan, and implement fundraising, as well as develop and facilitate promotion of Camp Oak Hills to churches, local communities, and other organizations. As is normal in camp ministry, I can also be found onsite cooking a meal, cleaning a bathroom, driving a pontoon, cutting down a tree, and countless other joys of service.
