My Background

Children's ministry is so important! As a child, I attended church and Awana. Because of these ministries, I had a lot of people speaking Biblical truth into my life in addition to my family. These truths gave me a background and understanding of who God is and what the Gospel means. When I was about 7 years old, God brought these truths together in my mind, and I heard the personal question God was asking me, "Will you?" That moment my life took on a new direction. I began to get to know God in a personal way.

As I entered middle school, I began serving in various ministries such as Awana and Moppets. I loved working with the kids. They were so cute! I decided I was going to serve the Lord by working with these children - I was going to help these children. As I began watching kids age out of the program or move away, I began wondering if I had impacted these children in a way that would last. I came to the realization that the most lasting thing I could do for them was to introduce them to Jesus. Over the next couple of years, I took evangelism training and learned to teach others to share the Gospel with children as well.

Surveys have shown that not only does sharing the Gospel with children help them know God sooner, but perhaps heightens the chance that they will ever know Him. 85% of Christians will tell you they came to know Him before the age of 14.

It has been my pleasure to see children come to Christ and to see Christians prepare and take action as they follow the Great Commission!

My Camp Roles

I lead a follow-up program for campers to help them grow in their understanding of God’s Word and deepen their relationship with Jesus. This is done primarily through a monthly event at camp called the “Journey Club” and fall/winter/spring retreats.

During the summer ministry, I am the chapel speaker for our two weeks of Day Camp, I help train the summer staff in evangelism and Bible teaching skills and I mentor them as they serve and minister to the campers.

Another fun aspect of my role is developing a program area for camp called “The Critter Cabin”. This nature center has several animals I use to help campers discover more about the attributes of our great God and His amazing creation. Romans 1:20

I also assist the Program Director in the ongoing recruiting and mentoring of the summer staff throughout out the fall, winter, and spring.
