Salary and Benefits:
Camp Oak Hills provides a starting salary for most positions. Paychecks are issued monthly, at the end of each month. Each staff member has the opportunity to raise additional salary through fundraising. See more details below. The average support raised per person in 2025 was $1,560
Summer Leadership Staff (if working for ten weeks):
Guaranteed Salary: $275 per-week
Support Raised: up to $750 per-week
Cabin Counselor (if working for nine weeks):
Guaranteed Salary: $250 per-week
Support Raised: up to $720 per-week
Program Staff (if working for nine weeks):
Guaranteed Salary: $133 per-week
Support Raised: up to $611 per-week
Meals and Housing
All meals and housing are provided with the summer staff salary.
Time Off
We believe in the importance of rest and rejuvenation for our staff, so, yes, you get off-time!
Weekend Off-Times
Weekly days off are Fridays from around 5:00 pm through Sundays at around 5:00 pm during the work session. (Exception: Open House on June 14, work begins at 2:00 pm.) You will have time to do your laundry, rest, hang out with staff, or run to Bemidji for supplies.
Weekly Off-Times
Staff who are in camper cabins will have one hour scheduled off each day. Other staff will have time off after their responsibilities are done for the day.
Summer Missionary Fundraising
All summer missionaries have the opportunity to raise financial support to help increase their salaries up to a set amount.
The process (prior to staff training):
• Read through the support raising training.
• Submit 50 names of friends, family members, and churches to COH.
• Write a letter using the COH template and submit a picture.
• COH will format and print support letters and provide postage.
• Hand sign and mail out letters.
• Meet with your home church missions board to present your summer ministry.
How does the salary work?
Example salary for 9 weeks:
$2,000* in guaranteed salary plus
$3,000 in donations preferenced for summer missionary’s ministry at COH.
- $150 – 5% Administration Fee on donations
- $203 – 7.65% Employer Payroll Tax
$4,647 – possible summer salary
