Dear Friends & Family,

Praise God for another summer!

My name is Mac Buchan. I have just graduated from high school, and by the time you have received this letter I will have turned 18. I am a follower of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; I am very passionate about telling others about Jesus. I love to be in God’s beautiful creation, to run, fish, and talk. I have been working at Camp Oak Hills since 2022. I spent two years as part of the SOS Team (doing behind-the-scenes work like cleaning); I then spent two years as program staff (being a co-counselor and running a skills class). I believe that God is calling me into youth ministry hopefully as a youth pastor. Lord willing, I will go to Oak Hills Christian College in 2027 to study pastoral ministry.

I am very glad to say that this summer I have an amazing opportunity to serve as a summer missionary at Camp Oak Hills. My summer started in early June with an intensive two-week training period. Now, I will serve for 6 weeks investing in the lives of campers as a head counselor of a cabin. I will be joined in the cabin alongside my co-counselor in a cabin of 6-10 boys, and it will be my job to make sure my campers have their needs met as I will be their primary leader while they are staying at camp. My main goals, as their counselor, will be to help them grow in their faith in Jesus, or if they don’t know Jesus, to introduce them to him and to be a godly example of how a Christian should act. I will also be serving as a lifeguard at the waterfront this summer.

The focus of my letter is to ask you to partner with me in this ministry opportunity. My position will involve a combination of a paid salary and raised support. This enables the camp to remain financially accessible to as many campers as possible. My support goal is to raise $3,000 by August 1^st. 

After camp is over, I will be going to Albania to attend a Bible school that is part Torchbearers International. I will need to pay for the flights, school fees, and tuition. I won't be able to work during that time. So my support will help with that fee.
