2024 Summer Missionary

Joshua Johnson

June 2024

Dear Friends & Family,

My name is Joshua Johnson. I am the oldest son of Nathan and DaNae Johnson here in Bemidji, MN. I hope that this letter finds you well. I have been working hard this winter learning at my local trade school, Northwest Technical College. Currently, I am enrolled in the HART (Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technologies) program as a PSEO (Post Secondary Education Opportunities) full-time student. I am going to be a Senior in high school this fall. I am still a high school student, just taking all of my classes at the technical school. So far, I have enjoyed it and have been stretched to learn in so many more ways than I thought would be possible. This is a two-year program. If the Lord wills, I will be graduating both high school and college next May. I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for me after that point. In the meantime, I have been doing projects around the house, and a lot of fishing with my brother (Jonathan) and Dad, as well as other friends. Then also reading and studying the scriptures, which I have found great joy in doing.

This summer, I have an amazing and exciting opportunity to serve as a summer missionary at Camp Oak Hills. I am very excited to see what the Lord will do in and through me this summer as I allow Him to use me as His hands and feet. My passion for the Lord makes me desire to share His Good News with campers here at Camp Oak Hills.

My summer will start in early June with an intensive two-week training period. Then, I will serve for 5 weeks investing in the lives of campers as a cabin counselor, which is someone who is working directly with the kids, building relationships with them, and giving them guidance. As a part of that position, I will also be assisting in running programs that are open during the afternoons for the kids to participate in.

First and foremost, I want to ask you if you would partner with me in prayer. Prayer is a powerful tool given to us to bring about the Lord's means.

I John 5:14-15 (KJV) And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that if he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

A lot of the struggles that I will face there are not struggles that come from the physical world but from the spiritual.

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual wickedness in high places.

One of the weapons we are called to wield in this world is prayer.

Ephesians 6:18 (KJV) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

The reason why I am asking you to partner with me is to further the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. That the Gospel will be clearly taught, and heard with open ears, which is to the end, salvation and discipleship of the child. Also, that I will have the physical and mental energy to discern the right opportunities for discipleship and sharing His Word in the name of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit to bring about the Lord's will.

The second focus of my letter is to ask you to partner with me in this ministry opportunity through financial giving. My position will involve a combination of a paid salary and raised support. This enables the camp to remain financially accessible to as many campers as possible. My support goal is to raise $2,000 by August 1st

Would you please consider making a financial gift towards this goal? In addition, would you commit to praying for me regularly during this summer as I share the Good News and love of Jesus with campers?

If you are able to be involved, please return the enclosed response card or give online at campoakhills.org. If giving online, please enter my name in the “Summer Staff Support” section. (All donations are tax-deductible.)

I appreciate your time in considering this, your friendship, and your support.

Jude 24-25

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
