2026 Summer Missionary

Grace Buchan

June 2026

Dear Friends & Family,

Hi! I hope your summer is going well, my name is Grace Buchan. A little about my life recently: I have spent the last year working on and selling my art in markets and events in my area in Georgia and building up my sticker shop on Etsy. I enjoy bringing people joy through the little things I can make and believe this is a skill God has given me to try and share His love. My original plan for the summer was to come to Minnesota again as I have the last two years and work as a PCA with my cousin Georgia. However, plans have changed slightly as the kids will be in summer school this year freeing up most of my day. So, to spend my time wisely and still have a way of serving others, I have volunteered at camp to be a kitchen assistant and dessert maker, which is something I've wanted to do for a while since I love baking things for other people.

This summer I have the amazing opportunity to serve as a summer missionary at Camp Oak Hills. While I wasn't there for the training this year I have had experience working in the camp kitchen in the past. I will serve for 6 weeks investing in the lives of campers as I work mornings in the kitchen and get to bake the desserts for the campers and staff to enjoy.

The focus of my letter is to ask you to partner with me in this ministry opportunity. My position will involve a combination of a paid salary and raised support. This enables the camp to remain financially accessible to as many campers as possible. My support goal is to raise around $3000 by August 1st

After camp is over, I have made the decision to move from my home in Georgia to live in Minnesota temporarily in my Aunt and Uncle’s apartment while my cousins Evy and Mac are at school in Albania from September to April of next year. My main reason for wanting to do this is that I want to be an extra help to my amazing Aunt and Uncle in being available as a PCA for their kids, as well as any other help they may want since their older kids will be gone. The other reason is generally to be closer and spend time with them and to be closer to my brother, Ian, who moved here last August and will be married soon, as well as my boyfriend, Solomon, who lives in Bemidji. All of that to say, I am in need of prayer for all of this! It will be very difficult for me to leave my family who I love very much and will miss, and my church in Georgia, for a longer period than just the summer. I will also be needing to get a job here in Bemidji in the fall, so prayer for that would be appreciated also.

Would you please consider making a financial gift towards my goal? In addition, would you commit to praying for me regularly during the camp season while I work in the kitchen, specifically that I would have the continued energy for it and that my body would treat me kindly.

If you are able to be involved, please return the enclosed response card or give online at campoakhills.org. If giving online, please enter my name in the “Summer Staff Support” section. (All donations are tax deductible.)

I appreciate your time in considering this, your friendship, and your support.

Serving Jesus,
